Waxwings

There was a small arrival of Waxwings into Shetland during October and the early part of November. This species is always eagerly awaited by birdwatchers in the islands, due to their fondness for gardens, quirky behaviour and fantastic looks. We were lucky enough to have several birds visit our garden at Bakkasetter during this time, including a flock of seven which descended early in the morning on November 2nd, attacked the remaining fruit on the rose bushes, and promptly left again!
